Creating a Table scape with The Concrete Shed.

Entertaining in the country always means creating the perfect table scape. Here's how we decorated our table for a recent gathering with friends.

Start with a neutral base: For our party we didn’t add a tablecloth as we wanted the concrete of our outdoor table to be shown off. If using a tablecloth though, our go to are a crisp white tablecloth or a neutral colour to provide a clean and fresh canvas. Napkins are also a must have and we love neutral colours or a stripe.

Play with Texture and Contrast: Concrete bowls have a distinct texture that adds depth and character to your tablescape. Pair them with softer textures such as linen tablecloths or cotton napkins to create a balanced contrast. Concrete bowls can also be used to serve crusty bread or fruit to add to your tablescape. Using your concrete bowl to serve food on the table also frees up surface area, which you need when you have a table full of people!

Add Greenery: Incorporating natural elements like greenery or flowers can breathe life into your tablescape and soften the industrial feel of concrete bowls. Place a vase with a bouquet of fresh flowers or greenery from the garden (we used leaves from our Olive trees) or scatter individual leaves or sprigs along the table for a more organic look.

Height: Use items with height to balance out low lying items such as napkins, cutlery and dishes. Some items to consider are candlesticks, glasses and tall green stems. We used the olives and glasses to create height with our tablescape.

Menu Cards: I love when I go to a party and there is a handwritten menu card on the table. It allows your guests to see in advance what they will be eating adding to the anticipation of their meal. Place the menu card to the left of the forks, on the dinner plate or side plate.
